Florence Resolution: Hugh K. Leatherman, Sr.

This below resolution was passed at the Florence county convention, and will now go to the resolutions committee. If the resolutions committee passes it, the resolution will be up for a vote at the state convention. However, before the resolutions committee votes, they want to know your opinion. Whereas Senator Hugh K. Leatherman, Sr. was elected and has served the people of District 31 since 1981; and

Whereas since his election Senator Leatherman has supported needed election reforms, economic development, spending limits for state government, and has promoted the Republican ideals; and

Whereas Senator Hugh K. Leatherman, Sr. was recipient of the Business Advocate award which was presented by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce for his efforts to advance business issues at the state house and promotes importance of improving South Carolina’s business climate; and

Whereas Senator Hugh K. Leatherman has over the last two years assisted and supported the revitalization of the Florence County Republican Party and Florence County Republican Women’s Club; and

Whereas Senator Leatherman appropriately analyses issues facing the people of District 31 and provides amicable solutions to said issues; and

Whereas Senator Hugh K. Leatherman drafted a common sense conservative agenda for the 2011 session of the Legislature which creates a South Carolina where individuals enjoy low taxes, increased economic development opportunities and less intervention by the Federal government.

Now, therefore, be it resolved the Florence County Republican Party offers its heartfelt appreciation to Senator Hugh K. Leatherman, Sr for his dedication to the Florence County Republican Party and the people of Florence county; and

Be it further resolved that the Florence County Republican Party honors Senator Leatherman for his service in the South Carolina Senate representing District 31, and

Be it further resolved that the Florence County Republican Party applauds Senator Leatherman’s efforts to reduce the tax burdens which are heavy upon the backs of the people of South Carolina; and

Be it further resolved that the Florence County Republican Party hereby supports Senator Leatherman’s efforts to pursue much needed election reforms in South Carolina; and

Be it further resolved that the Florence County Republican Party expresses its hope that Senator Hugh K. Leatherman, Sr. will continue to serve this party for many years to come.
