In Honor of our Men & Women Who Sacrifice and Fight for our Freedom
We are living in difficult times. At no time in our lives has this country been engaged in three conflicts simultaneously. In our youth, we were engaged in a police action would be called “The Thousand Day War” (Vietnam). It became the longest lasting engagement we had asked our brave men and women in uniform to undertake for their country in our history. That was until now. We have conflict on two continents, one which is the longest war in our history. We have asked our brave soldiers to return two, three, and for some, four tours of duty. The fortitude that is shown by not only those who are on distant shores, but the families who are here to withstand all that life brings. President Abraham Lincoln talked about a war that both separated us and brought us together. He talked about great losses in battles, and how the sacrifice of the people was “beyond our mortal power to endure”. The, as now, we are Americans.
Because of their sacrifices:
BE IT RESOLVED that the Spartanburg County Republican Party gratefully acknowledges the sacrifices of our brave men and women in our armed forces who daily risk their lives and the future well being of their families in the defense and for the freedom of this great nation, so that it may long endure as a light on the hill, forever lighting the way to freedom.
