Pickens County: Unbiased Instructional Materials in South Carolina Schools

This below resolution was passed at the Pickens county convention, and will now go to the resolutions committee. If the resolutions committee passes it, the resolution will be up for a vote at the state convention. However, before the resolutions committee votes, they want to know your opinion. WHEREAS, instructional materials in United States History and the Constitution provided by the South Carolina Department of Education reflect a bias toward Democratic presidents, praising the Clinton administration while failing to even mention the presidency of Ronald Reagan, and

WHEREAS, public schools, being funded with taxpayer dollars, are expected to offer a curriculum that is fully informative and free from partisan bias, and

WHEREAS, other states, encountering similar problems, have taken measures to remove liberal bias from their curricula, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED by the Pickens County Republican Party that the South Carolina Department of Education conduct a review of standards support materials for instruction in United States History and the Constitution, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the South Carolina Department of Education release a copy of the End of Course examination in United States History and the Constitution in order to ensure transparency and political balance in its assessments.
