Chad Connelly issues statement on election as SCGOP Chairman

Columbia, SC – May 7, 2011 – South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Chad Connelly today issued the following statement after his election to lead the SCGOP:

“It is truly humbling to know the trust that activists from across our state have shown by electing me to lead our party,” Connelly said. “We are blessed to have such a strong Republican Party in our state, and this is an incredibly exciting opportunity and challenge that has been entrusted to me to make our Party even stronger. That will mean not only preserving the electoral gains we have made, but also working to unite our party while making our conservative platform even stronger. It will take the hard work and determination of every Republican in our state to see it through, and I will be counting on them for their continued support.”

Prior to his election as SCGOP Chairman, Connelly, 47, served as Chairman of the Newberry County Republican Party. He played key roles in the successful campaigns of both Congressmen Mick Mulvaney and Congressman Jeff Duncan, and has worked at the grassroots level to elect numerous other Republicans to state and local office.

Connelly is a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Newberry First Baptist Church, a board member of the Palmetto Family Council, and a board member of SC Citizens for Life.

Connelly resides in Prosperity with his wife, Dana, and their four children. He is active in the community, and enjoys, among other things, coaching Dixie Minors League Baseball.
