It’s an issue that Blue Dog Democrats and Republicans all agree on: the federal government should not be paying for abortions in the Democrats’ plan to takeover health care.

Now we know why Miller has been avoiding the press and the public. Take his recent statement on the Stupak Amendment. The proposal would not allow federal funding of abortion in any government health plan, with exceptions being in cases of rape, incest or danger to the life of the mother.

“I think it’s redundant,” Miller responded. “I mean, there’s no reason for it. There’s already legislation in place going back 10 or 15 years. It’s an excessive piece of legislation that I think would strip from some areas some of the life-saving aspects of the previous legislation. I thought it was unnecessary, I think that’s the biggest thing for me. So I would have voted against it.

The Stupak Amendment is one of the main things holding up the Democrats from ramming through their health plan. And Rob Miller is against it.
