Across South Carolina today as the deadline for federal taxes looms, it is very heartening to see so many people across our state making their voices heard, to tell the federal government ‘Enough is enough!’

This year, Tax Freedom Day was on April 9. That means the average American is working nearly a third of the year just to pay current tax obligations to federal, state and local government. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The liberal administration in Washington DC has run our national debts up to over $14 trillion, before you even consider the $2.5 trillion in added liabilities from the healthcare reform legislation. Today is a reminder of the frightening pace at which our liberties are being eroded, but I’m proud to join with so many conservatives across South Carolina in our fight for lower taxes, limited government, and individual liberty.
