SCGOP Chairman Issues Statement on House Voter ID Bill
Columbia, SC – January 26 – South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Karen Floyd today issued the following statement on the state House’s passage of the Voter ID bill:
“This commonsense reform will go a long way toward ensuring that South Carolina’s voting process is both secure and accessible,” Floyd said. “In this technological day and age there is simply no logical reason to not add this additional safeguard to our voting process. Secure elections are a fundamental precept of democracy, and I thank Speaker Harrell, Majority Leader Bingham, and bill sponsor Rep. Alan Clemmons for their work on this bill. It is my hope that Senate Republicans act as quickly as possible to pass a similarly strong measure, so that the General Assembly can get this bill to the governor’s desk.”
