Mulvaney leads Person in 5th District race, SC GOP poll says
The State – U.S. Rep. Mick Mulvaney, R-Indian Land, has a wide lead over Democrat Fran Person in the 5th District congressional race, according to a new poll commissioned by the S.C. Republican Party.Conducted by Benchmark Research, the automated telephone survey shows Mulvaney winning with 51 percent support in the state’s Piedmont district. Person of Tega Cay, a former aide to Vice President Joe Biden, has 28 percent support.
Political newcomers seek SC House District 37 seat

Gov. Haley headlining October GOP dinner in Vermont
Post and Courier – Gov. Nikki Haley will be the keynote speaker at a Vermont Republican Party dinner and will attend a similar event in Atlanta, both early next month. Haley and others will meet privately with sponsors before the Vermont GOP Harvest Dinner in Burlington on Oct. 5. Ticket prices range from $75 to $4,000.
