Defending South Carolina

South Carolina has a strong tradition as a right to work state, and we also have a strong tradition of opposing federal intrusions. We MUST stand against Washington bureaucrats trying to kill South Carolina jobs. Growing our economy isn’t a partisan issue – and the Obama White House needs to recognize that. Thank you to our Republican Governor Nikki Haley, Attorney General Alan Wilson and U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint for standing up for South Carolinians in Washington today. On that note, here’s a short message I recorded earlier highlighting our Party’s opposition to big labor threatening South

Peeler, Clemmons named Republican legislators of the year

May 11, 2011 – Columbia, SC Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler and Representative Alan Clemmons were honored this weekend at the SC Republican Party convention as the Republican Senator and Representative of the Year. They were given the Terry Haskins Award for their leadership on issues critical to South Carolina and their leadership in the SCGOP. Peeler has been a driving force for much of the Republican agenda in the Senate this year, championing voter ID, tort reform, government restructuring, protecting S.C. workers from union intimidation and solving our state’s budget crisis. In the House, Clemmons has worked tirelessly to

Standing up for South Carolina

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and a group of Republican senators demanded Tuesday that the Obama administration weigh in on the National Labor Relations Board’s complaint against Boeing, saying the complaint could jeopardize thousands of South Carolina jobs and the future of free enterprise in the country. The NLRB complaint alleges that Boeing decided to build a new 787 Dreamliner plant in South Carolina, a so-called “right-to-work” state, in retaliation against union workers in Washington state who had engaged in past strikes. NLRB Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon is seeking an order to keep that production line in Washington state.

I hope you had a great weekend with loved ones. Happy Mother’s Day! First, I want to say “Thank You.” It is truly humbling to know the trust you have shown in electing me to serve our party as Chairman. We are blessed to have such a strong Republican Party in our state, and we have an incredibly exciting opportunity and challenge to make our party even stronger.
