We have learned today that one of our Republican state legislators, Rep. Ted Pitts of Lexington, will be deployed to Afghanistan early next year.

As reported on state Rep. Nathan Ballentine’s blog, Rep. Pitts is stepping out of the race for Lt. Governor, and will not run for re-election to his House seat either. Representative Pitts’ example serves as a great reminder to all of us that the blessings of liberty we enjoy are secured through tens of thousands like him leaving their families and careers behind to put themselves in harms’ way to keep the rest of us safe. Please keep Rep. Pitts and his family in your prayers during the months ahead.
