Lexington Resolution: The South Carolina Fair Tax Act

This below resolution was passed at the Lexington county convention, and will now go to the resolutions committee. If the resolutions committee passes it, the resolution will be up for a vote at the state convention. However, before the resolutions committee votes, they want to know your opinion. Whereas there is a large and growing body of economic evidence that conclusively demonstrates that taxing income reduces economic activity; and

Whereas taxpayers are burdened with compliance regulations and filing South Carolina and the federal government of the United States and the need exists to broaden the tax base and ease the burden on each individual; and

Whereas many citizens do not contribute to the tax revenues of the state of South Carolina and the federal government of the United States and the need exists to broaden the tax base and ease the burden on each individual; and

Whereas the need exists to attract businesses and investments to the state of South Carolina and the United States economies by creating a more favorable environment fro business; and

Whereas the expansion of the economy of the state and the nation is critical for the continues success of our free enterprise system;

Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lexington County Republican Party of South Carolina urges all members of our legislative delegation to actively support and work for enactment of the SC Fair Tax Act in the 119th General Assembly and to support the passage of HR 25 and S 13 in the Congress of the United States.
