The following editorial appeared in the Augusta chronicle yesterday, we thought that it was an inspiring piece from a new South Carolina Republican. Please take a moment to read. By James E. Sanderson Jr. Guest Columnist Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 Certainly, it has surprised some in our community that as a lifelong Democrat and a member of the United Steelworkers of America for 36 years, I decided to become a Republican. It wasn’t a choice I made capriciously, nor was it something that hadn’t already been a long time coming. I’D LIKE TO START out by saying that I’m proud
Our country is attempting to recover from one of the worst economic periods in history and the Democrats have a budget proposal that will do little to help. The budget proposal does help the Democrats though, by using a procedure called “reconcilliation” to pass their latest version of government-run health care. One of the Democratic ringleaders behind this proposal is South Carolina’s own, John Spratt. He is Nancy Pelosi’s House Budget Chairman. We must do everything we can to ensure that Congressman Spratt is not sent back to Washington next November. The following editorial ran in the Greenville News and
Our friends over at Conservative.sc posted this blog post last night. We thought we would share it with you along with a YouTube video of Senator Larry Grooms discussing the SC Voter Id bill. Posted on Jan 27, 2010 by Executive Editor by Dave Wilson, Executive Editor When the SC Senate adjourned last Thursday, Republican senators knew they were in for a fight with their Democratic counterparts come Tuesday when they returned to Columbia. They weren’t let down. Democratic leaders, in an attempt to stall debate on a House-passed Voter ID bill, introduced some 800 amendments this afternoon in a
We are extremely excited to announce that Charles Mathis is joining the Republican Party. The following article appeared in the Spartanburg Herald Journal this morning. Charles Mathis will seek re-election this year to his District 5 seat on the Cherokee County Council as a Republican. The veteran Democrat has held the seat for more than two decades and said Wednesday his switch was not a sudden move. “I’ve had a lot of supporters talk to me over the years about changing. When we as a candidate sign that statement, we pledge to support the party, and that’s OK for local
“Congressman Brown has been a dedicated public servant for nearly three decades, and we appreciate his service to our state and Party,” Floyd said. “Congressman Brown has been a loyal member of our Party since being first elected to the state House at a time when Republicans were far tougher to come by in our state. The State Republican Party is going to do everything we can to make sure this seat stays in Republican hands, as it has been since 1981. We wish Congressman Brown nothing but the best as he retires to spend more time with his family.”

Great things are accomplished when concept, vision, leadership and action come together, and I am pleased to report that your Republican leadership team celebrated just such an event this past week. As you all know, for the last two and a half months we have been incredibly focused on meeting our December 7 deadline for the “Milliken Match,” our effort to raise enough money to pay off our mortgage debt at the state Republican Party Headquarters.
Obama must be using magic, because he has spent millions to create jobs in Congressional Districts that don’t even exist! ABC News Jonathon Karl Here’s a stimulus success story: In Arizona’s 15th congressional district, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. At least that’s what the Web site set up by the Obama administration to track the $787 billion stimulus says. There’s one problem, though: There is no 15th congressional district in Arizona; the state has only eight districts.

Joe Wilson says supporters of government-run healthcare should have a taste of their own medicine: Speaker of the S.C. House Bobby Harrell talks about Boeing, the House’s 2010 agenda, and staying connected through social networking: Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler discusses how Boeing announcement proves need to stop card check legislation
State Republican Party Chairman Karen Floyd today issued the following statement on Veteran’s Day. “Thanking our veterans for their courage and sacrifice is something that transcends our differences and unites us all as Americans,” Floyd said. “Our freedom to have open debate and discourse, along with the freedom to change our government as we see fit was created and continues to be secured by our nation’s soldiers. The South Carolina Republican Party joins our state and nation in thanking our veterans this day for their heroism.”
