by Mallory Factor Democrats pushed us down the path of higher spending, higher unemployment, lower wages, and, ultimately, a slower recovery. And now they are expecting to do so again with a new similar stimulus plan. Kudos to the Democrats for finally noticing that the people want the president and Congress to focus on job creation. Yes folks, Obama is talking jobs again. At a recent town hall event, he announced, “I’m calling on Congress to pass a jobs bill to put more Americans to work — building off our Recovery Act — put more Americans back to work rebuilding
It’s never easy when a friend dies, especially a friend who is a real part of your family. This week my dear friend Bob Holtzmacher passed away. He was a member of our South Carolina Republican family, a true patriot who Mr. Greg Shorey says “set a high standard of dedication, which others would do well to emulate. I sat down to write about Bob’s commitment to our party, our state, and our nation, but then I read Mr. Shorey’s words which describe exactly how I feel about the loss of this true patriot. I hope you’ll take a moment
After spending the day in Columbia at the headquarters, now I’m in Charleston for a series of meetings before finally settling back home in Spartanburg tomorrow. It seems like there’s a million things happening as we inch closer to primary season and I wanted to take a few minutes to give you an update. Last week’s debate was amazing. The turnout was fantastic and I have to tell you, it was one of the best moderated debates I’ve ever seen. Joe and Mika were simply fantastic. If Al Gore Would Have Known This Was Going To Happen, Maybe He Wouldn’t Have Invented The Internet! The Democrats were very successful and out-worked Republicans nationally on the Internet in 2008. But, the tables have turned. We’re very excited about the rollout of the new SCGOP Web site. The redesign and new options offer interactivity that will give us the best state party website in America. Republicans have been coming back and making gains across the country by mounting innovative campaigns, finding new and better ways of taking our message to the people. Bob McDonnell in Virginia won his
Columbia, SC – January 28, 2009 – South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Karen Floyd today issued the following statement on the state Senate’s passage of a bill that will require photo ID for voting in South Carolina, and provides for an early voting process: “A secure and accessible voting process is the hallmark of our democracy, and this bill is one key to making that voting process as secure as possible,” Floyd said. “This bill is incredibly important to the state Party and our Executive Committee, and we are proud that our Republican majority in the Senate made it a
South Carolina Senate Majority Whip Danny Verdin (Laurens County) is helping lead the fight for comprehensive election reform in the State Senate. Senator Verdin believes, as we do, that we must make voting as easy as possible with new early voting rules, and as secure as possible by demanding that each voter verify his identity with a government issued identification card.
Before the Gubernatorial debate next week, the SCGOP will be hosting a special luncheon with the former and current First Ladies of South Carolina. Mrs. Beasley, Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Edwards, and Mrs. Sanford will all be speaking along with the Co-host of “Morning Joe,” Mika Brzezinksi.
