Columbia, S.C. – This morning, South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Chad Connelly released the following statement on the news that U.S. Senator Jim DeMint plans to leave the Senate in January to become the President of the Heritage Foundation. “Jim DeMint is a small businessman who ran for Congress to change the way Washington works. Without question, he succeeded. Senator DeMint is a conservative rock star. At the Heritage Foundation, he will be in an even greater position to spark revolutionary change. I commend his principled leadership and service to our state. Thank you, Senator.”
Dear Friend, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 instructs us to “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” I’ve noted each time I’ve read that passage to give thanks IN ALL circumstances and not FOR all circumstances. It’s actually the best way to live life and get through the ‘stuff’ that this world brings – sort of like celebrating Thanksgiving Day every day but without all of the food we will eat tomorrow! My parents taught our family to be thankful – to focus on the blessings in life instead of
On behalf of Republicans across our state, the South Carolina Republican Party wishes to sincerely thank all veterans of our Armed Forces on this Veterans Day. Freedom isn’t free, and the life that we enjoy in the freest and most successful nation in the history of the world is due in large part to the personal sacrifices that the men and women of our military have made for us all. Not only do we thank those who served, we pay tribute to those Americans who laid down their lives for our freedom, and to those who are currently serving our

Dear Fellow Republican, No one could have ever expected the drastic change, lack of hope, and constant challenges to the Constitution we have seen over the past three and a half years. Here in South Carolina we have seen the consequences of the 2008 election firsthand. Last Thursday, four Supreme Court Justices found Obamacare to be invalid in its entirety. Now, you have the ability to be the decisive fifth vote and invalidate this law at the ballot box. President Obama and those in Congress put lipstick on a pig when they passed this law. The Supreme Court took the

Dear Fellow Republican, Today is a sad day for those who believe that individuals, not the federal government, should be in charge of their own health care decisions. Let’s not confuse what the Supreme Court said. The Supreme Court did not say that ObamaCare is good policy or good for the country. The Supreme Court DID say that ObamaCare’s policies as commerce are unconstitutional – and that they are only constitutional when considered a TAX. Yet Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats continually misled the American people by saying ObamaCare is NOT a tax. That’s shameful. Even worse, ObamaCare’s rules and
SCGOP Communications – (803) 988-8440 Memo: GLORIA TINUBU: RADICAL UNION ORGANIZER AND BIG LABOR’S BEST FRIEND To: Concerned 7th District Voters From: SCGOP Research South Carolina’s AFL-CIO had a terrible spring. Their frivolous lawsuit against Gov. Nikki Haley was thrown out of court. The chapter’s president was caught bashing a piñata of the South Carolina governor. And despite the AFL-CIO’s consistent opposition, Boeing completed its first Charleston-built 787 Dreamliner. The AFL-CIO and big unions needed some good news and got it last night. Their hand-picked candidate, Gloria Tinubu, won the South Carolina Democratic Party’s nomination in South Carolina’s new 7th
Dear Fellow American, I hope that you are having a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend with your loved ones! I also hope and pray that you will take a moment in the midst of family cookouts and lake trips to reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day. Let us remember that our country has been built and sustained by the ultimate sacrifice of those men and women who believed in the ideal called FREEDOM so much that they risked and gave their lives so that we could enjoy those family cookouts and lake trips. In a day and age
South Carolina Democratic Party executive committeeman Christopher Lykes was arrested today on charges of stealing personal information from over 228,000 South Carolinians. “Christopher Lykes, 36, of Swansea was arrested Thursday and charged with five counts of violating medical confidentiality laws and one count of disclosure of confidential information, according to SLED. Chris Lykes’ name was scrubbed from the South Carolina Democratic Party’s website in just the past few hours. “The South Carolina Democratic Party thinks they
