Good morning everyone. I hope you are staying warm on this very chilly Monday. This is the first of what will hopefully be very frequent blog posts to keep you informed of what we’re up to at the SC Republican Party headquarters. We’ve been extremely busy in preparations for this year’s important Congressional mid-term and South Carolina statewide elections. These elections will shape the direction of our state and nation for the next few years, which makes it one of the most important elections in recent cycles due to the fragile state of our economy. Here at the party headquarters
Hey everyone. I wanted to share this article from South Carolina’s own Mallory Factor with you. I think you’ll find it very interesting. Thanks, Karen By Mallory Factor As we begin 2010, the daily news reports tell us that the economy is on the mend and indicators are suggesting that the recession is ending. In many ways, things just seem better than at the beginning of 2009. The stock market has stabilized and rebounded. Reports tell us fewer people are losing their jobs. Other reports tell us that the economy is in the early stages of a recovery. US manufacturing
“Congressman Brown has been a dedicated public servant for nearly three decades, and we appreciate his service to our state and Party,” Floyd said. “Congressman Brown has been a loyal member of our Party since being first elected to the state House at a time when Republicans were far tougher to come by in our state. The State Republican Party is going to do everything we can to make sure this seat stays in Republican hands, as it has been since 1981. We wish Congressman Brown nothing but the best as he retires to spend more time with his family.”
Fellow Republicans, As we all begin to celebrate the New Year, it is also a time to reflect on the successes of 2009. The South Carolina Republican Party was able to pay off its mortgage debt by completing the Milliken Match, which will allow us to devote more resources toward our core mission of electing Republicans in 2010. Republican leaders throughout the state were actively involved in bringing Boeing to South Carolina, which will create thousands of jobs for our citizens. In Washington, our Republican leaders like Senator Jim DeMint and Congressman Joe Wilson stepped forward to fight against government-run
MCGOWAN SHOULD SUPPORT DEMINT’S EFFORT AGAINST SECURITY UNIONIZATION Columbia, SC – December 29, 2009 – South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Karen Floyd today issued the following statement, praising Senator Jim DeMint’s efforts to get answers on the future of Travel Security Administration’s workforce: “Democrats seem to have returned to a pre- 9/11 mentality, as witnessed by their closure of Guantanamo Bay, putting accused terrorists in civilian courtrooms, and paying off union supporters by potentially subjecting our national security to union bosses,” Floyd said. “Senator DeMint is right to ask pointed questions about where the Obama Administration stands on putting our
During this holiday season, we all look forward to celebrating the values upon which our nation was founded. This year those values are under attack from big government liberals who think they know how to spend our money better than we do. But while President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Majority Leader Harry Reid work around the clock (literally) pushing a massive expansion of government, we are happy to see South Carolina’s Republicans leading the fight against this horrible idea.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays! I truly wish each of every one of you a joyful Christmas season. While as a Party we celebrate diversity and are respectful of all traditions associated with this time of the year, the observance celebrated by my family and by most South Carolinians is the birth of Jesus Christ. Two lessons from Christ’s life strike me as particularly applicable for all of us as we head into the New Year. First and foremost is that of love. As human beings, we will all disagree often. But it is our challenge to always disagree in
KING OF PORK BARREL SPENDING NOW SENDING MONEY TO WRONG DISTRICT Columbia, SC – December 22, 2009 – Rep. Jim Clyburn’s reputation for spreading around Congressional earmarks is legendary. Now, he’s taking it one step further by sending pork all the way to California. Clyburn intended to earmark $100,000 for a library in Jamestown, South Carolina. But through an inexcusable lack of due diligence on his and the rest of the Democratically-controlled Congress’ part, the earmark instead was sent to Jamestown, California. Incidentally, the town the money was sent to doesn’t have a library, and the library in South Carolina
Last week, we announced that the Milliken Match had been completed. We are extremely excited to have our mortgage paid off, and now the focus is on winning in 2010. We created a brief video with some of the highlights from Friday’s press conference. Please take a moment and watch the video if you were unable to attend, or simply want to relive this historic moment.
Great things are accomplished when concept, vision, leadership and action come together, and I am pleased to report that your Republican leadership team celebrated just such an event this past week. As you all know, for the last two and a half months we have been incredibly focused on meeting our December 7 deadline for the “Milliken Match,” our effort to raise enough money to pay off our mortgage debt at the state Republican Party Headquarters.
