(Columbia, S.C.) – Tonight the South Carolina Republican Party Executive Committee voted to have a hybrid in-person state convention on Saturday May 15. Per state law and SCGOP rules, the Party reorganizes every two years, with precinct meetings throughout March, county conventions in April, and state convention in May. Roughly 1,400 people, at a minimum, from across the state typically attend the state convention–delegates, alternates, and guests. SCGOP Formally Censures Congressman Tom Rice (Columbia, S.C.) – Roughly two weeks ago, Congressman Tom Rice voted with Democrats to impeach outgoing President Trump, disappointing the Party and our Seventh Congressional District. After the vote, a letter and potential resolution at the grassroots level started forming in SC-07. Then becoming a county resolution, the resolution was proposed to the state resolutions committee. It then passed out of the resolutions committee and went to the full SCGOP State Executive Committee for a vote. SCGOP beats Democrats on straight ticket voting for third straight election (Columbia, S.C.) – The SCGOP beat Democrats on straight ticket voting for the third straight cycle by a margin of 17%, more than doubling the margin from 2018.
